With the generous support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Jockey Club Centre of Positive Ageing, together with the Department of Medicine & Therapeutics, CUHK Faculty of Medicine; Christian Family Service Centre; Haven of Hope Christian Service; The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon; Pok Oi Hospital; St. James’ Settlement; Tung Wah Group of Hospitals; and Yan Chai Hospital Social Service Department, has launched Jockey Club “Brain Health” Dementia Screening and Community Support Project (DSCS), adheres to the principles of “early detection, early diagnosis, and early intervention”. It aims to assist and support individuals who are concerned about memory decline through initial screening and subsequent support services.

In order to raise awareness about brain health at an early stage, we are using bus advertisements to promote the importance of ‘early detection, early diagnosis, and early intervention.’ We also encourage individuals with memory concerns to download the ‘EC Screen’ mobile app to conduct self-assessments.

We sincerely thank KMB for their partial sponsorship, which allows us to promote this project on bus bodies and seatback.

Launching ‘Wanderer Watchers’ in Collaboration with AS Watson Group

JCCPA has a long-standing commitment to working with a range of corporate partners. Our goal is to enhance awareness of dementia among professionals and the general public, and to provide support to individuals with dementia and their caregivers in the community. We are delighted to announce our partnership with the AS Watson Group in the launch of the “Wanderer Watchers” initiative, which aims to foster a dementia-friendly community through collaborative efforts.

We provide training courses for Watsons Group employees through the ‘Online Learning Platform for Dementia: EDU’. The courses are designed to meet the specific requirements of the retail industry, providing employees with a deeper understanding of dementia and communication skills to interact with people with dementia in their daily work thereby to enhance the service quality and efficiency. These training courses represent a pioneering initiative in the retail sector in Hong Kong.

Furthermore, the “Dementia’s Secret Angel” App has been installed on over 1,200 mobile devices across all AS Watson Group branches, including over 500 Hong Kong PARKnSHOP Supermarkets, Watsons, Fortress, and Watson’s Wine stores. The objective of this initiative is to expand the network for locating missing elderly.

We hope to collaborate with AS Watsons Group through this ‘Wanderer Watchers’ to provide a stronger support network for the people with dementia. We aim to create a safe environment in the community for people with dementia, allowing caregivers to feel at ease when letting them go out and connect with the community.
