Training Courses for Dementia Care
With the generous support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant, JCCPA continues to organise the training programme for caregivers.
The training courses “Intensive Training I” and “Intensive Training II” were successfully conducted by our social worker Ms. Ally Lam on 13 July. She shared with more than 170 family caregivers on the basic knowledge of dementia, including understanding dementia, communication skills, different stages of care and care planning.
Registration for the caregiver training course in August and September 2024 is now open. The August session will be held on the 17 August (Saturday) at 10:00 am, while solicitor Ms Olivia Leung will share about “Three Instruments of Peace” on Will, Enduring Power of Attorney and advance directives. The September session will be held on 21 September (Saturday) at 10:00 am by our Senior Training Consultant, Dr Maria Chui will share about “Oral Health, Nutrition and Meal Design”.

JCCPA offers regular training courses for family caregivers, focusing on equipping them with the skills and tactics to take care of people with dementia effectively and providing valuable solutions to caring difficulties. This may help relieve the pressure of family members and help them go on the care journey with empathy.
