Training Courses for Dementia Care

With the generous support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant, JCCPA continues to organise the training programme for caregivers.

The training course “Intensive Training I” and “Intensive Training II” were successfully conducted by our social worker Ms. Ally Lam on 20 April. She shared with more than 140 family caregivers on the basic knowledge of dementia, including understanding dementia, communication skills, different stages of care and care planning. She also addressed caregivers’ enquiries with practical suggestions during the talk, e.g. ways to communicate with persons with dementia when they miss identify objects.

Registration for the caregiver training course in May and June 2024 is now open. The May course will be held on the 18 May (Saturday) at 10:00 am, while Dr. Chan Wai Chi, Clinical Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, The University of Hong Kong, will share about “Psychiatric Medication” on dementia care. The June session will be held on 18 June (Saturday) at 10:00 am by Dr Jenny Lee, Deputy HCE and Consultant, Tai Po Hospital, speaking on “End-of-Life Care”.
