Jockey Club Post-diagnostic Support in Dementia Care Programme
Supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trusts, Jockey Club Post-diagnostic Support in Dementia Care Programme (PDSP) staff visited ELCHK Chung On Neighbourhood Elderly Centre and ELCHK Radiance Hub in March to carry out on-site cognitive tests by using the EC Screen App. EC Screen App aims to examine dementia for the elderly preliminarily in 5 – 10 minutes. If the examination result of the elderly is “Follow-up”, staff will contact the elderly for detailed assessment.
Besides, PDSP has started publishing serialized articles in “Headline Daily” for twelve weeks starting from February. The articles will share touching stories and information about dementia to encourage people with dementia and their caregivers. Meanwhile, we hope to let the public learn more about dementia and raise the public’s awareness of mild cognitive impairment and dementia. You are welcome to review the articles via the links below.

"1+2" Family Caregivers Training Course
With the generous support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant, JCCPA launches the new “1+2 Family Caregivers Training Courses” in 2021. Each quarter, there will be a “One Day Intensive Training” and two “Half-Day In-Depth Course on Special Topics”.
The last session of the first quarter was on 20 March 2021 via an online platform. Our Registered Nurse, Ms. Bonnie Li, shared with 145 family caregivers about the nursing skills for pressure sore, urinary tract infection and feeding. During the session, Bonnie also responded and advised the family caregivers according to their caring cases and how to overcome various challenges when caring for people with dementia. The training was in a pleasant atmosphere; participants raised questions and responded very enthusiastically. We sincerely hope the practice could help them alleviate their difficulties and pressures.
Registration for the second quarter of “1+2” Family Caregivers Training Course is now open. Apart from the “One Day Intensive Training” in April, Dr. Chan Wai Chi, Specialist in Psychiatry, and Dr. Jenny Lee, Specialist in Specialist in Geriatric Medicine, will share medical topics related to dementia with family caregivers in May and June respectively. Family caregivers are welcome to register at https://jccpa.page.link/CG2021S2-f.
