Color of toilet seat should contrast with the floor
Have clear labels on taps eg. red label for hot water and blue label for cold water
Non glare, non slippery floor, avoid using placemat or loose cloth on floor. Avoid complex floor pattern
Install handrail in the shower area, vertical rail for elder who are able to stand and horizontal rail for those who shower in sitting position. For elder who use a bath tub, can try a clip on hand rail with a bath bench
Level floor height is preferred. Avoid high shower curb
Use a shower chair with armrest for those who have low standing tolerance
Install heating lamp or heater
Towel hanger should not look like handrail to avoid elder from using it for weight bearing
Adequate lighting, at least 300lux, can also use sensor light to ease night time usage
Handrail with colour contrast with wall and floor
For wheelchair user, should leave enough leg room underneath sink
Put frequently used items on an open shelve. Put detergents behind locked cabinet
Easily covered mirror to avoid eliciting fear for those elder who cannot recognize themselves
