Jockey Club Post-diagnostic Support in Dementia Care Programme
The programme staff has organized a webinar with general practitioners (GP) and family doctors in December. We were honoured to invite seven GPs, to share their precious experience in diagnosis of dementia. Prof Timothy Kwok, Director of JCCPA and Professor of Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK also shared the diagnosis and management of elders with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to participants.
Besides, programme staff have delivered a talk for the elders at the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance Sheung Shui Church to introduce brain health tips.
Moreover, programme staff also visited various estates under Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS), including Health Village and Sha Tau Kok Chuen to carry out cognitive assessment for the elders. The identified subjects who might require further cognitive diagnosis would be referred to GPs or doctors in family medicines specialty for consultation with subsidies provided.
Apart from that, group training sessions were conducted in JCCPA and HKHS estates, including Health Village in North Point, Lai Tak Tsuen in Tai Hang, Kwun Lung Lau in Kennedy Town and Yue Kwong Chuen in Aberdeen. The participants learnt about dementia knowledge as well as how to establish healthy lifestyles in the future.
PDSP provides free educational talk for different NGOs and screening service for those aged 50 or above in order to promote early diagnosis and early intervention. If anyone observed that the elderly in the family demonstrated a significant decline in memory and cognitive impairment, you are welcome to contact our programme staff Mr. Chan at 2946 8179 or Ms. Yip at 2946 8182.

Besides, Christmas feast and Christmas gift were also prepared, our frontline staff dressed up as Santa Claus to send out the gift and best wishes to the elderly. The party was full of joy and laughter, it was an unforgettable and remarkable Christmas to the elderly as well as our staff this year.
Jockey Club Caring Communities for Dementia Campaign
In this campaign, we have developed the guarding-tooth device, using the bluetooth and crowd-sourcing technology, to assist caregivers to search for the people with dementia when they get lost.
In response to the need of searching people with dementia when they are lost, JCCPA continuously organized iBeacon distribution day in December. Two sessions were held for the caregivers in needs. Distribution day will be held continuously in the next year, please visit our website for more details (https://www.jccpa.org.hk/en/projects/ccd/).

Phone: 8105 5818
Apart from that, we have launched the first batch of “Angel Box” Bluetooth devices which was supported by the Kowloon Motor Bus (1933) Co., Ltd., installing relevant devices at five large bus stops. The first batch of “Angel Box” Bluetooth devices have been installed, which could strengthen the network for finding the elderly.
To quickly grasp the location of the get lost elderly, the number and density of Bluetooth devices were the key. If there are more Bluetooth devices, the time can be speed up and the location can be more accurate when searching the get lost elderly. We have cooperated with KMB and installed the Bluetooth devices at five major bus stops including: Shatin Central Bus Terminus, Tuen Mun Town Centre Bus Terminus, Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Bus Terminus and Tuen Mun Road Bus Interchange (towards Tuen Mun and Kowloon directions). If the people with dementia wear our ibeacon and pass through the “Angel Box” Bluetooth device, the approximate location will be sent to the caregiver after the server receives the signal. Caregivers can locate the people with dementia by the App and bring them home safely as soon as possible.
It is believed that the caregivers could be benefited from the “Angel Box” Bluetooth device as well as to build a dementia friendly community.
